About The Position

The Department of Psychology at The University of New Mexico (UNM) invites applications for a Clinical Psychologist faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level for a full-time, tenured appointment. We seek a highly committed, license-eligible psychologist with an established research program in clinical science, and with the experience and interest to serve as Director of Clinical Training. Areas of research interest consistent with the needs of the program include psychopathology broadly defined, with particular interest in developmental psychopathology, transdiagnostic treatment approaches, or health psychology. A candidate whose work integrates basic and applied research is especially valued, as this is central to the PCSAS clinical science model. Successful candidates for this position will be expected to teach and mentor at the undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral levels. The UNM Department of Psychology, which currently includes 26 tenure-track faculty and 62 Ph.D. students, has internationally recognized research programs. External research grants exceeded $8 million in funding last year. The Clinical Psychology program is accredited by both PCSAS and APA. The successful candidate will have numerous opportunities for collaboration within the department and in thriving cross-disciplinary research centers affiliated with UNM, including the Psychology Clinical Neuroscience Center, Center on Alcohol, Substance use and Addictions (CASAA); Center for Health Policy at UNM; Center for Participatory Research; Division of Community Behavioral Health; Mind Research Network; New Mexico Alcohol Research Center; Brain and Behavioral Health Institute; College of Population Health; UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center; UNM Memory and Aging Center, UNM Center for Brain Recovery and Repair; Center for Development and Disability and UNM Nene and Jamie Koch Comprehensive Movement Disorder Center. Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology or a related field from an APA/CPA/PCSAS accredited program.
  • An APA/CPA approved clinical or counseling internship.
  • License eligible in New Mexico.
  • A comprehensive research portfolio.

Nice To Haves

  • Research excellence in areas consistent with the needs of the program, including psychopathology broadly defined, as well as research specifically in developmental psychopathology, transdiagnostic treatment approaches, or health psychology, as evidenced by publications and extramural funding.
  • Teaching and mentoring excellence, experience in designing and teaching courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels, and a commitment to mentorship.
  • Expertise in supervising evidence-based assessment and/or treatment of individuals across diverse clinical presentations and populations, and a commitment to providing clinical supervision.
  • Experience as Director of Clinical Training (DCT) or other relevant senior administrative leadership positions.
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities
