About The Position

The University of Saint Joseph invites applications for a full-time, 9-month faculty position with a focus on Clinical Psychology within the Psychology program. This position can be either tenure-track or not tenure-track. The Psychology program is part of a dynamic and collegial department that also includes programs in Criminal and Restorative Justice and Child Study. The department is dedicated to student-centered excellence in undergraduate teaching and fosters a supportive culture. The Psychology program offers an undergraduate bachelor’s degree, a minor, an accelerated pathway to an MA in Counseling, a Child Life Specialist track, and concentrations/certificates in Criminal Justice/Mental Health, Behavioral Analysis, and Expressive Therapies. The position is set to commence in August 2027. Applicants with a proven commitment to student-centered teaching will be given preference. Candidates should possess expertise in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or Mental Health Counseling. This role presents an excellent opportunity for individuals to leverage their clinical expertise to mentor undergraduate students interested in mental health careers within a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment. The program emphasizes small class sizes and close student-faculty relationships, focusing on preparing undergraduates for diverse professional fields. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses such as Psychopathology and Internship Seminar, along with other courses aligned with their expertise. Potential additional courses include Introductory Psychology, courses at the intersection of Criminal and Restorative Justice and Psychology, Expressive Therapies, and human development. For a tenure-track appointment, the candidate will teach 12 credits per semester, engage in scholarship, and contribute to departmental, university, and community service. For a non-tenure-track position, the candidate will also teach 12 credits per semester and participate in service, with the flexibility to maintain clinical practice hours outside the university.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, or closely related field.
• Prior experience providing direct client care in a clinical, community or private practice setting.
• Must hold or have previously held a valid state license as a clinical psychologist, LPC, or equivalent mental health credential.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students or evidence of strong potential in these areas.
• Terminal degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology by the appointment start date is required.

• For a tenure-track position, a terminal degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology and a demonstrated record of a program of scholarship is required.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in Psychopathology and Internship seminar.

• Engage in scholarship (for tenure-track position).
