About The Position

The Department of Psychology and Sociology at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is seeking to fill a full-time, tenure-track position in Clinical Psychology, starting Fall 2027. The faculty rank and tenure status will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications. The department currently offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology. There is consideration for developing a PhD in Clinical Psychology, making experience with doctoral-level programs a plus for Full Professor candidates. The Psychology programs are substantial within the College of Liberal Arts, serving approximately 500 majors, 100 minors, and 40 graduate students. Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and master’s level clinical psychology courses, potentially including psychological assessment, psychopathology, and psychotherapy, with opportunities to develop specialized courses. Tenure-track faculty typically have a 3-3 teaching load. As an R2 University with a growing research focus, TAMU-CC seeks candidates with a demonstrated record or potential for research productivity and an interest in securing external funding. Research activities will involve mentoring student research and supervising master’s thesis students. Additionally, the role includes providing clinical supervision to master’s level students and contributing to service within the department, college, university, and profession. A strong understanding of multifaceted issues and relevant experience in pedagogy and clinical practice is expected.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA or CPA accredited program.
• License eligible as a psychologist in the state of Texas at the time of appointment.
• For Full Professor rank: a minimum of ten (10) years of full-time university faculty experience with a minimum of four (4) years of experience at the associate rank or comparable rank.

Responsibilities

• Teach clinical psychology courses at the undergraduate and master’s level.
• Develop courses in their area of specialization.
• Mentor student research.
• Supervise master’s thesis students in the Clinical Psychology MA program.
• Provide clinical supervision to master’s level students.
• Actively engage in service to the department, college, university, and profession.
