About The Position

This is a continuous recruitment posting for Associate Lecturer/Lecturer/Senior Lecturer of Sociology within the School of Behavioral and Social Sciences. While there may not be an immediate need, applications are accepted to build a pool for future part-time opportunities. Applicants will be considered for potential openings as they arise. The position is hired on a per-course basis each semester, with no guarantee of assignment in subsequent semesters. Teaching load ranges from 1-12 credits per semester. While listed as on-site, partially remote and remote opportunities may be available.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a master's degree in sociology from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience with college level instruction.
  • Ability to effectively instruct and engage with a wide range of students, encompassing diverse backgrounds, learning styles, and abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Earned doctorate in sociology from an accredited college or university. ABD considered.
  • Demonstrated commitment to reflective teaching practices.
  • Experience with teaching in multiple modalities, such as in-person, online, and hybrid.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations
  • Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
  • Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
