About The Position

The James Hardie Engineer Development Program (EDP) is a two-year training program for engineering graduates designed to build a strong foundation for a career at James Hardie. The program provides hands-on learning, practical training, professional collaboration, and ongoing mentorship across manufacturing, corporate, and innovation-focused environments. During the first year, participants complete rotational training at a U.S. manufacturing location, gaining immersive exposure to fiber cement and/or polymer composite manufacturing processes, plant operations, and James Hardie’s innovation culture. They apply their learning to projects supporting manufacturing process design, reliability, operations, optimization, and continuous improvement. In the second year, participants are assigned to an Operations-supporting role at a James Hardie location in North America. The program includes an engineering mentor from day one, regular check-ins, quarterly training with peers, mentors, and program leaders at the Chicago headquarters and manufacturing facilities, and practical training from engineering and manufacturing experts. Participants lead projects that directly affect manufacturing plant operations. The company offers a comprehensive compensation package, benefits, and programs.
