About The Position

The Assistant Transportation Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the transportation department. This position is responsible for meeting annual performance goals, maintaining a safe working environment, and contributing to the development of daily operating plans. The role involves managing equipment maintenance, driver schedules, and resolving customer issues promptly. Additionally, the Assistant Transportation Manager will focus on staff development, leading committees, and partnering with HR to ensure optimal staffing levels and foster employee involvement.

Requirements

Associate's degree with 3 to 4 plus years of related experience and 0 to 1 plus years of supervisory experience OR High School Diploma with 5 plus years of specific experience and 1 to 2 plus years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

Ensures annual performance goals are met, including on-time dispatches, off-load rate, labor cost, and product loss and damage.
Ensures a safe working environment by executing company processes successfully.
Assists in developing the daily operating plan to include equipment maintenance and driver work schedules to meet or exceed customer delivery needs.
Promptly solves problems to the maximum satisfaction of customers.
Provides development to supervisory and driver staff.
Potentially leads various committees, such as quality and safety.
Partners with human resources to ensure appropriate staffing levels throughout the year to foster a work environment with maximized employee involvement.
Other duties as assigned.
