About The Position

Chelsea Piers is hiring a full-time Assistant Toddler Teacher for its CP Kids early learning center in Chelsea, New York. CP Kids serves children ages 3 months to 5 years and provides a play-based learning environment that supports language, cognitive, social/emotional, and motor development. The role is scheduled Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with occasional schedule shifts as required, and is to start immediately. The Assistant Toddler Teacher works as part of a teaching team to support curriculum planning and implementation, children’s development, classroom safety, and relationships with families. The position involves active engagement and play with toddlers, caregiving tasks, and supporting children’s independence and self-help skills.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree.
Excellent references from people who have observed the candidate working.
Strong understanding of how young children grow and learn and how to meet their developmental needs.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Creativity, patience, and a nurturing spirit.
Ability and energy to run, play, and stay active with students.
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, including lifting children onto a changing table and carrying them when needed.

Experience teaching children ages 2–5.

Responsibilities

Work as part of a teaching team and help plan and implement curriculum.
Interact professionally with parents and students verbally, by email, and through other online methods.
Work with parents to support children’s growth and answer questions about topics such as potty training and sleep.
Feed, change, and stimulate toddlers’ growth and development.
Ensure students’ safety inside the school and out in the neighborhood.
Help children develop independence and self-help skills.
Play and engage with children, modeling appropriate language and social interaction.
