About The Position

Chelsea Piers Kids (CP Kids) is an early learning center for children ages 3 months to 5 years. Its mission is to create a play-based learning environment that supports children’s language, cognitive, social/emotional, and motor development. The Assistant Toddler Teacher joins the CP Kids team full time, working Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with occasional schedule changes as required. The role involves supporting curriculum and classroom activities, partnering with families, and fostering toddlers’ safety, development, and independence.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree.
Strong understanding of how young children grow and learn and how to meet their developmental needs.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Creativity, patience, and a nurturing spirit.
Energy to run, play, and stay active with students.
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, including lifting children onto a changing table and carrying them when needed.
Excellent references from people who have seen the candidate in action.

Experience teaching children ages 2–5.

Responsibilities

Work as part of a teaching team to help plan and implement curriculum.
Interact professionally with parents and students in person, by email, and through other online methods.
Work with parents and answer questions about topics such as potty training and sleep.
Feed, change, and stimulate toddlers’ growth and development.
Ensure students’ safety inside the school and in the neighborhood.
Help children develop independence and self-help skills.
Play and engage with children while modeling appropriate language and social interaction.
