About The Position

Agape Montessori School is seeking a full-time Assistant Teacher for a classroom of 12 one-year-old children. Working alongside the Lead Teacher, the Assistant Teacher helps prepare and maintain a nurturing, orderly Montessori environment tailored to one-year-olds. The role supports early independence, observes individual development, and fosters a safe space for exploration. The approximate schedule is 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background in early childhood education.
• Have or be willing to obtain CPR, First Aid, and state-required Health & Safety training; training is provided by the school.
• Ability to pass a background check and comply with Kansas Office of Early Childhood regulations.
• Strong communication and active observation skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Solid understanding of two-year-old developmental needs.

Nice To Haves

• Prior Montessori classroom experience.

Responsibilities

• Set up, organize, and maintain Montessori materials that support purposeful activities and self-directed learning for one-year-olds.
• Assist the Lead Teacher with daily routines, meals and snacks, outdoor play, self-care, and transitions for a classroom of 12 one-year-olds.
• Observe and document student growth and behavior to support individualized learning plans.
• Maintain a clean and safe classroom.
• Build positive, respectful relationships with children, staff, and parents.
