About The Position

West Coast Convenience, parent company of Loop Neighborhood Market, Poppy Market, and other gas brands, operates convenience stores, fuel stations, and car washes across California. The Assistant Team Leader supports the Team Leader in all aspects of store operations, helps lead the team, and ensures operational excellence and a consistent, high-quality customer experience. This hands-on leadership role involves working alongside team members, coaching, resolving problems, and ensuring daily execution meets company standards. The Assistant Team Leader leads the store when the Team Leader is absent.

The role requires flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Physical demands include constant standing, bending, and reaching; moderate manual dexterity; and frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds. The position involves working in varied conditions, including outdoor areas in hot summer weather and cold indoor spaces such as walk-in freezers. The listed salary is $19–$20 per hour. Employees may receive fuel discounts based on tenure, subject to a maximum of 20 gallons and two fill-ups per week.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6–9 months of assistant manager or related experience.
• Strong math, English communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Team-oriented, organized, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Reliable transportation and flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Constant standing, bending, and reaching; moderate manual dexterity; and frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds.
• Comfort working in varied environments, including outdoor areas during hot summer conditions and cold indoor spaces such as walk-in freezers.

Responsibilities

• Help train and coach team members and provide support to drive performance.
• Promote a positive team environment and lead the store in the Team Leader’s absence.
• Support daily operations to ensure smooth, consistent execution.
• Assist with scheduling, timekeeping, and coverage.
• Handle cash, reports, and store paperwork accurately.
• Troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
• Support ordering, stocking, and merchandising.
• Monitor inventory, reduce shrink, and maintain store presentation.
• Drive sales through promotions and merchandising standards.
• Track performance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Deliver exceptional customer service on every shift.
• Resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally.
• Keep the store clean, organized, and welcoming.
• Follow company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Support food, fuel, and workplace safety standards and maintain a safe environment for employees and customers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits

• Fuel discount based on tenure: $0.10 per gallon for employees with 6 months to 3 years of service; $0.30 per gallon for 3 to 5 years; and $0.40 per gallon for 5 or more years. Maximum of 20 gallons and two fill-ups per week.
