About The Position

West Coast Convenience, parent company of Loop Neighborhood Market, Poppy Market, and other gas brands, operates convenience stores, fuel stations, and car washes across California. The Assistant Team Leader supports the Team Leader in all aspects of store operations, helps lead the team, and works alongside team members to ensure operational standards and a consistent, high-quality customer experience. The role leads the store when the Team Leader is absent.

The position involves team coaching, daily operations, scheduling and timekeeping support, cash handling, inventory and merchandising, customer service, and compliance with company policies and safety standards. It is a hands-on role in a fast-paced retail environment.

The position requires constant standing, bending, and reaching, moderate manual dexterity, and frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds. Work may take place in outdoor areas during hot summer conditions and in cold indoor spaces such as walk-in freezers. The listed pay is $19–$20 per hour. Employees may qualify for a fuel discount based on tenure, subject to a maximum of 20 gallons and two fill-ups per week.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6–9 months of assistant manager or related experience.
• Strong math, English communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Team-oriented, organized, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Reliable transportation and flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Willingness to learn and grow into a Team Leader role.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• Retail, convenience, food service, or supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help train and coach team members.
• Provide coaching and support to drive performance.

• Keep the store clean, organized, and welcoming.
• Follow company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Support food, fuel, and workplace safety standards.
• Maintain a safe environment for employees and customers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits

• Fuel discounts based on tenure: $0.10 per gallon after 6 months to 3 years; $0.30 per gallon after 3 to 5 years; and $0.40 per gallon after 5 or more years. Maximum 20 gallons and two fill-ups per week.
