Assistant Teaching Professor/Assistant Lecturer - Mathematics
About The Position
The Department of Mathematics at Miami University invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor or Assistant Lecturer position starting in Fall 2027. Duties include teaching mathematics courses (primarily introductory mathematics courses, precalculus, calculus, and possibly mathematics education courses), advising, and service to the department. The position may also involve coordinating sections of high-enrollment courses. This is an on-campus position requiring a regular on-campus presence. Based on performance, this position is eligible for subsequent annual reappointment with the possibility of promotion to the associate and, subsequently, full rank that includes longer-term continuing contracts.
Requirements
- For appointment as an Assistant Lecturer, an M.S. or M.A. in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, or a closely related area by date of appointment is required.
- For appointment as an Assistant Teaching Professor, a Ph.D. in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, or a closely related area by date of appointment is required.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver lectures, and hands-on learning activities.
- Assess student learning through assignments, projects, quizzes, and exams.
- Maintain accurate grade records and submit grades in accordance with university deadlines and guidelines.
- Hold regular office hours to support student learning.
- Adhere to departmental, college, and university policies.
- Engage in assigned academic advising and/or university and departmental service.
