About The Position
The Department of Mathematics at Colorado State University invites applications for one tenure-track assistant professor position in the area of Applied and Computational Mathematics with an anticipated start date of August 16, 2027. A broad range of application areas will be considered. Candidates should have an established research program, a compelling plan for future research, the ability to supervise both graduate and undergraduate research, and a record of excellence in teaching. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and includes a full benefits package. The Department of Mathematics at Colorado State University is one of eight departments in the College of Natural Sciences. The Department has a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching, as well as excellence in research. Faculty research interests include algebra, analysis, combinatorics, differential equations, geometry, inverse problems, math education, mathematical modeling, number theory, scientific computing, and topology, as well as applications of these areas. The Department of Mathematics has around 150 undergraduate majors and 73 graduate students, with currently 30 tenured and tenure-track faculty. Work authorization visa sponsorship may be available based on the specific situation, including cost, for the selected final candidate.
Requirements
- Terminal degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Mathematics or related area by application deadline.
- Evidence of research productivity or strong potential to establish a sustainable scholarly program (e.g., publications, presentations, grant activity).
- Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
Nice To Haves
- Evidence of scholarly research in Applied and Computational Mathematics.
- Evidence of teaching skills that show the candidate is prepared for teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Responsibilities
- Teach and mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including course and curriculum development.
- Conduct and publish research, pursue external funding, and contribute to scholarly advancement in the field.
- Provide service to the department, university, profession, and community in support of CSU’s mission.
