About The Position

The Assistant Store Team Leader supports the Store Team Leader with the store’s day-to-day operations. This hands-on leader helps guide the team by example, delivers exceptional neighborly service, and contributes to a fun, engaging, pet-centric environment where pets and people can thrive. The role supports store performance, team development, animal care and safety, and relationships with the local community.

Requirements

At least 2 years of retail or customer-facing leadership experience.
High school diploma or GED required.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar tools.
Ability to lift up to 65 lbs and perform physical tasks such as climbing, bending, and kneeling.
Ability to operate store equipment as needed.
Reliable transportation and ability to work flexible schedules.
Must be at least 18 years old and able to meet hiring requirements set by the local franchise owner.

Responsibilities

Support and lead the team by example while delivering exceptional, neighborly service.
Greet neighbors and their pets and create a welcoming in-store experience.
Help customers choose products suited to their pets’ needs.
Support sales, engagement, and overall store productivity.
Help analyze results and work with leadership on plans to improve performance.
Assist with hiring, onboarding, and developing team members.
Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and support to team members.
Maintain a clean, safe, and well-run store, including animal care and safety.
Build community relationships and support local events and partnerships.
Help foster a fun, positive culture where pets and people feel at home.
