Assistant Store Manager
About The Position
The Assistant Store Team Leader at Pet Supplies Plus helps manage store operations and supports a positive, neighborly shopping experience for customers and their pets. Working in partnership with the Store Team Leader, the role analyzes sales results and develops plans to improve sales, neighbor engagement, and productivity. The Assistant Store Team Leader helps build a knowledgeable, trustworthy, pet-centric reputation in the community and creates a fun, positive environment for team members and neighbors. The position supports operational standards and policies, including cleanliness, animal care, safety, and security. It also promotes team engagement and morale, supports recruiting and onboarding, coaches and develops team members, and builds community partnerships for events and marketing opportunities. The hourly pay range is USD $19.75 to $23.75.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience leading a retail team.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to operate all store equipment, including a forklift.
- Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work flexible schedules.
- Reliable transportation.
- Must pass a drug test.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
Responsibilities
- Assist with operational management of the store.
- Follow operational policies and procedures for cleanliness, animal care, safety, and security.
- Analyze store sales results and develop plans with the Store Team Leader to maximize sales, neighbor engagement, and productivity.
- Provide exceptional, neighborly service to customers and their pets.
- Promote team member engagement and morale by understanding individual motivations and needs, recognizing successful performance, and supporting career goals.
- Help maintain a fully staffed team and support recruiting and onboarding.
- Provide onboarding, development opportunities, coaching, and feedback to team members.
- Connect with community organizations to develop event and marketing partnerships.
- Help create a fun, positive environment and a reputation for knowledgeable, trustworthy, pet-centric service.
