About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager, referred to in the posting as Assistant Store Team Leader, helps manage store operations and supports the Store Team Leader. The role provides exceptional, neighborly service to customers and their pets, helps the team deliver knowledgeable and trustworthy service, and contributes to a fun, positive store environment. The position also supports sales, staffing, employee engagement, development, and community partnerships.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience leading a retail team.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; high school diploma or GED required.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Good communication skills.
Ability to operate store equipment, including a forklift.
Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work flexible schedules.
Reliable transportation.
Must pass a drug test.
Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

Lead by example in providing exceptional service to customers and their pets.
Analyze store sales results and develop plans with the Store Team Leader to maximize sales, customer engagement, and productivity.
Help create a fun, positive environment and promote knowledgeable, trustworthy, pet-focused service.
Assist with operational management of the store.
Follow operational policies and procedures related to cleanliness, animal care, safety, and security.
Promote team member engagement and morale by understanding individual needs, recognizing successful performance, and helping team members achieve career goals.
Help maintain a fully staffed team and support recruiting and onboarding.
Provide onboarding, development opportunities, coaching, and feedback to team members.
Connect with community organizations on events and marketing opportunities.
