About The Position

Pet Supplies Plus is hiring an Assistant Store Team Leader to help manage store operations and provide exceptional, neighborly service to customers and their pets. The role helps create a fun, positive environment and supports a reputation for knowledgeable, trustworthy, pet-focused service. The Assistant Store Team Leader partners with the Store Team Leader to analyze sales results and develop plans to improve sales, customer engagement, and productivity.

The position also supports team engagement, staffing, recruiting, onboarding, training, coaching, and development, and builds relationships with community organizations to support events and marketing opportunities. Candidates must be able to work flexible schedules and perform the physical and equipment-related tasks needed to run a store, including operating a forklift and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience leading a retail team.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; high school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to operate store equipment, including a forklift.
• Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work flexible schedules.
• Reliable transportation.
• Must pass a drug test.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Assist with operational management of the store.
• Follow operational policies and procedures for cleanliness, animal care, safety, and security.
• Help promote team member engagement and morale by understanding individual motivations and needs, recognizing successful performance, and supporting career goals.
• Help maintain a fully staffed team and support recruiting and onboarding.
• Provide onboarding, development opportunities, coaching, and feedback to team members.
• Connect with community organizations to partner on events and marketing opportunities.
• Lead by example in providing exceptional, neighborly service to customers and their pets.
• Analyze store sales results and develop plans with the Store Team Leader to maximize sales, customer engagement, and productivity.
• Help create a fun, positive environment for team members and customers.
