About The Position

Citi Trends is a leading off-price value retailer of apparel, accessories, and home trends. The Assistant Store Manager supports daily store operations, team leadership, and staffing efforts in close partnership with the Store Manager. The role helps drive sales performance, maintain operational excellence, and support the hiring, onboarding, and development of store associates.

The Assistant Store Manager supports sales goals and customer experience standards, helps oversee inventory and shrink prevention, and ensures compliance with company policies and operating standards. The role also supervises and coaches associates, assists with recruiting and hiring, and helps maintain appropriate staffing levels. The position contributes to a safe, organized, customer-focused store and supports merchandising, operational, visual, and loss prevention standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–4 years of experience as an Assistant Manager or in a similar retail leadership role.
• Strong communication, organizational, and people leadership skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations, including percentages.

Nice To Haves

• 3–5 years of overall retail experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support daily store operations to meet sales goals, customer experience standards, and operational expectations.
• Monitor sales activity and guide associates in delivering excellent customer service.
• Assist with inventory control, inventory transactions, and shrink prevention.
• Ensure compliance with Citi Trends policies, procedures, and operational standards.
• Supervise and support associates in sales, inventory, cash handling, and customer service.
• Assist the Store Manager with recruiting and hiring, including candidate screening, interviews, onboarding, and training support.
• Support recruiting and employee retention efforts to help maintain appropriate staffing levels.
• Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance support to associates.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and customer-focused store environment.
• Reinforce company policies, procedures, and loss prevention standards.
• Support consistent execution of merchandising, operational, and visual standards.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support store operations and business needs.
