About The Position

Hispanic Housing Development Corporation (HHDC) is seeking an experienced Assistant Property Manager for its residential building in East Chicago, Indiana. The role supports the Property Manager with day-to-day property operations and requires affordable housing experience, strong customer service skills, and attention to detail. This is a full-time position, scheduled Monday through Friday for 40 hours per week, with pay of $20.00–$21.00 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma required.
Affordable housing experience required.
Minimum 2 years of multifamily property management experience.
Must have or obtain an Illinois Leasing Agent License within 6 months of hire.
Knowledge of Fair Housing laws and regulations.
Strong customer service skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and property management software.
Vehicle, insurance, and a good driving record required.

Nice To Haves

Some college preferred.
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist the Property Manager with daily property operations.
Process resident recertifications, rent calculations, leases, and required documentation.
Conduct regular inspections of grounds and common areas.
Monitor vacant units and make-ready status.
Assist with rent collection, delinquency follow-up, and eviction procedures.
Conduct resident home visits and community outreach as needed.
Serve as a liaison between residents and community agencies.
Assist with oversight of office staff, maintenance staff, and contractors.
Perform other duties as assigned.
