About The Position

Hispanic Housing Development Corporation (HHDC) is seeking an experienced Assistant Property Manager to support operations at its residential building in East Chicago, Indiana. HHDC’s mission is to provide affordable housing, safe and stable communities, and superior customer service. The role supports day-to-day property operations and resident services. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, paying $20.00–$21.00 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma required.
Affordable housing experience required.
Minimum of 2 years of multifamily property management experience.
Must have or obtain an Illinois Leasing Agent License within 6 months of hire.
Knowledge of Fair Housing laws and regulations.
Strong customer service skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and property management software.
Vehicle, insurance, and a good driving record required.

Nice To Haves

Some college preferred.
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist the Property Manager with daily property operations.
Process resident recertifications, rent calculations, leases, and required documentation.
Conduct regular inspections of grounds and common areas.
Monitor vacant units and make-ready status.
Assist with rent collection, delinquency follow-up, and eviction procedures.
Conduct resident home visits and community outreach as needed.
Serve as a liaison between residents and community agencies.
Assist with oversight of office staff, maintenance staff, and contractors.
Perform other duties as assigned.
