About The Position

Shalom House is seeking a compassionate, organized, and team-oriented Assistant Program Manager to join their residential services team. This role is ideal for a social worker or mental health professional who believes in meeting people where they are, recognizing strengths, and helping others build meaningful, fulfilling lives. As an Assistant Program Manager, you will play an important role in creating a safe, supportive, and empowering home for adults living with severe mental illness. You will work alongside a dedicated team, build meaningful relationships with residents, support their goals, and help guide the day-to-day operations of the program. Requirements

  • Experience providing direct mental health services, including individual support, supportive counseling, group work, interviewing, and community outreach.
  • A bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field preferred.
  • 2–3 years of relevant residential mental health experience preferred.
  • Current MHRT-I certification and the ability to maintain certification.
  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Leadership skills, initiative, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to changing needs.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Completion of Mental Health Technician I coursework within one year of employment and eligibility for immediate provisional certification, as applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Build positive, respectful relationships with residents and support them in identifying and reaching their personal goals.
  • Develop, monitor, and update treatment plans and provide individual and group support focused on daily living skills, coping strategies, and personal growth.
  • Advocate for residents while protecting their privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
  • Provide crisis intervention and help connect residents with appropriate community resources and services.
  • Administer and document medications according to agency policies.
  • Coordinate care with families, guardians, community providers, and other professionals.
  • Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation, progress notes, and MaineCare requirements.
  • Help maintain organized, accurate, and compliant resident records.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to direct care staff in the absence of the Program Manager.
  • Assist with staff supervision, scheduling, coverage, team meetings, safety meetings, and daily program operations.
  • Help create a welcoming environment that encourages connection, healthy socialization, independence, and personal growth.
  • Participate in special projects and other program needs as they arise.
