About The Position

Indiana University Bloomington (IUB) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in the College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Economics. We seek candidates to join IU’s Department of Economics to lead research in areas such as behavioral and experimental economics and applied microeconomics. Experience or interest in the use or development of artificial intelligence, machine learning, or computational tools is appreciated. These 10-month appointments would ideally start August 1, 2027, although an earlier or later start date is negotiable. Applications received by October 16, 2026, will receive full consideration, and applications will be accepted and reviewed until the positions are filled.

Requirements

• PhD in economics (or a related field), or completion anticipated, with initial appointment as an Acting Assistant Professor until Ph.D. completed.
• Committed to excellence in scholarship and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Nice To Haves

• Experience or interest in the use or development of artificial intelligence, machine learning, or computational tools is appreciated.
• Special interest in Behavioral and Experimental Economics.
• Special interest in Applied Microeconomics.

Responsibilities

• Substantially contribute to the overall academic excellence of their department by developing and/or maintaining a robust research portfolio conducting cutting-edge research both as a corresponding principal investigator and a collaborating investigator.
• Teaching and mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students as designated by the department chairperson.
• Actively providing service within the department, school and university alongside active engagement with the profession and/or the community.
• Excel in research and provide strong performance in teaching and service.
