About The Position

Franklin & Marshall College invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Economics beginning August 2027. The appointment is for nine months per year (August - May). The rank will be Assistant Professor or Instructor depending on qualifications. Applicants should possess or be close to completing a doctorate degree. Faculty maintain active research programs and contribute to the College’s shared governance. Our department and Franklin & Marshall College are committed to teaching and mentoring individuals with varied backgrounds and perspectives. The position requires teaching ECO 103 Intro to Economics Perspectives and ECO 203 Value and Distribution, which require training in heterodox economics and political economy approaches. The candidate will also teach elective courses on global economic issues, such as postcolonial perspectives on economic development and the ongoing impact of colonial legacies in the context of the global South. Additionally, the candidate will offer courses that build on the Department’s offerings and contribute to the College’s general education program, Connections.

Requirements

• Possess or be close to completing a doctorate degree.
• Training in heterodox economics and political economy approaches.
• Ability to teach ECO 103 Intro to Economics Perspectives.
• Ability to teach ECO 203 Value and Distribution.
• Ability to teach elective courses on global economic issues, such as postcolonial perspectives on economic development and the ongoing impact of colonial legacies in the context of the global South.
• Ability to offer courses that build on the Department’s offerings.
• Ability to contribute to the College’s general education program, Connections.
