About The Position

Guardian Angels Catholic Church Preschool is a faith-based early childhood education program serving children from age 2 through Kindergarten. It offers learning experiences in English and Spanish and supports children’s academic, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual development through family relationships, hands-on learning, faith formation, and exploration of God’s creation.

The Assistant Preschool Director works alongside the Preschool Director to support daily operations, staff supervision, classroom coverage, curriculum implementation, parent communication, enrollment activities, and licensing compliance. The role includes assisting in classrooms, mentoring staff, and supporting the preschool’s daily needs. The position is initially part-time, with the possibility of becoming full-time depending on enrollment, staffing needs, and budget approval; additional hours and full-time employment are not guaranteed. Applicants must be available Monday through Friday between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM for rotating opening, mid-day, and closing shifts assigned according to operational needs. Starting pay is $22.00 per hour, depending on education and experience. The position is non-exempt and reports to the Preschool Director.

Requirements

• Active, practicing Roman Catholic.
• Respect and understand a Catholic school philosophy.
• Meet applicable California licensing requirements for assigned classroom and administrative responsibilities.
• Hold or be willing to obtain Catechist Certification in accordance with diocesan requirements.
• Have strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Support the Catholic mission and values of the preschool.
• Upon hire, obtain CPR and First Aid Certification.
• Upon hire, provide proof of immunizations.
• Upon hire, provide proof of completed Mandated Reporter training for Child Care Providers.
• Upon hire, have a cleared TB test to work in a Licensed Child Care Facility.
• Be available Monday through Friday between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM for assigned rotating opening, mid-day, and closing shifts.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
• Experience working with children ages 2 through Kindergarten.

Responsibilities
