Assistant Nurse Manager
About The Position
The Assistant Nurse Manager works in the Mother Baby Care Unit at Corewell Health Troy Hospital, a 29-bed unit caring for postpartum patients and newborns. The role includes rotation within the maternal child health units with training. The Assistant Nurse Manager collaborates with the Assistant Nurse Managers for Labor & Delivery and NICU Pediatrics, and reports to the Women/Infant Services Nurse Manager. Under the direction of the nurse manager or another nursing leader, the Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for effectively implementing the hospital’s and nursing department’s philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures and for their effect on patient care in the department. Two part-time positions are available. The schedule is a night shift with variable work hours between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.; days worked vary, with on-call weekends.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN).
- At least two years of clinical experience.
- Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- AAP Certified Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
Nice To Haves
- Mother/Baby experience preferred; LDRP or Labor & Delivery experience may be considered.
- Participation in leadership activities, such as unit, hospital, or system Shared Governance meetings, precepting, or serving as a charge nurse.
Responsibilities
- Implement the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the hospital and nursing department under the direction of the nurse manager or another nursing leader.
- Support the effect of hospital and nursing department policies and procedures on patient care in the department.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Nurse Managers for Labor & Delivery and NICU Pediatrics as part of the leadership team.
- Rotate within the maternal child health units, with training.
