About The Position

The Assistant Nurse Manager works in the Mother Baby Care Unit at Corewell Health Troy Hospital, a 29-bed unit caring for postpartum patients and newborns. The role includes rotation within the maternal child health units, with training provided. The Assistant Nurse Manager collaborates with the Assistant Nurse Managers for Labor & Delivery and NICU Pediatrics and reports to the Women/Infant Services Nurse Manager.

Under the direction of the nurse manager or another nursing leader, the Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for effective implementation of the hospital’s and nursing department’s philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures, and their effect on patient care in the department. Two part-time positions are available. The work schedule is on nights, with hours variable between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., variable workdays, and on-call weekends.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN).
• Two or more years of clinical experience.
• Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• AAP Certified Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification.

Nice To Haves

• Mother/Baby experience.
• LDRP or L&D experience may be considered.
• Participation in leadership activities, such as unit, hospital, or system Shared Governance meetings; precepting; or serving as a charge nurse.

Responsibilities

• Rotate within maternal child health units, with training.
