About The Position

The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) plays a crucial role in supporting the Nurse Manager in the Operating Room-EV/Neuro at Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center. This full-time position involves demonstrating professional behavior, acting as a change agent, and facilitating staff development and engagement. The ANM is responsible for contributing to quality patient care, ensuring patient safety, and collaborating with various stakeholders to achieve organizational goals. Financial stewardship and effective resource management are also key aspects of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates and role models professional behavior with all staff and provider interactions.
  • Serves as change agent and role model for change to assist staff in accepting and embracing necessary change.
  • Completes annual performance appraisals as assigned, including feedback process, professional development plan, and employee self-appraisal.
  • Attends meetings at the direction of the nurse manager.
  • Promotes unit-based shared governance, providing ongoing support through consultation and assistance in eliminating barriers in partnership with the nurse manager.
  • Promotes professional development plan and conducts check-ins with educators and staff.
  • Promotes and encourages nursing specialty certification in partnership with the nurse manager.
  • Promotes a positive working environment and encourages employee engagement through team member/leadership rounding.
  • Facilitates the interviewing and on-boarding of new hires, hire learners, and peri-op fellows.
  • Identifies, plans, and implements activities in partnership with the nurse manager to ensure patient care is delivered in accordance with professional standards, is evidence-based, and meets patient safety goals, standards, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Monitors departmental performance in evidence-based practices, quality, and patient safety goals, meeting assigned goals.
  • Creates, in collaboration with the Nurse Manager, anticipated goals and develops action plans for any goal not met.
  • Participates in regulatory readiness.
  • Participates in operational excellence projects using performance improvement methodologies related to throughput and other quality improvement initiatives.
  • Works collaboratively with patients, families, peers, and other departments to meet established organizational goals for patient experience.
  • Investigates and provides feedback for identified patient or departmental concerns.
  • Collaborates with the nurse manager to develop a departmental plan to address any improvement needs.
  • Assesses initiatives in conjunction with the nurse manager and modifies plans to achieve established organizational, departmental, financial, and patient experience goals and metrics.
  • Ensures effective implementation of the financial plan in partnership with the nurse manager.
  • Demonstrates fiscal stewardship through effective and efficient use of staff, facilities, equipment, and other resources while maintaining patient care standards.
  • Initiates and finalizes API staff self-schedule to ensure departmental staffing needs are met.
  • Assists with departmental payroll.
  • Collaborates with the nurse manager to address premium hour criteria and use, including the process for approval and documentation.
  • Involves budget for expense control/revenue enhancement.
