About The Position

The Assistant Manager is responsible for the proper and efficient operation of an assigned shift within company policy, helping ensure that the shift contributes to store profitability and assisting the Store Manager with management functions. The Assistant Manager must be willing to accept promotion and assume store manager responsibilities after completing training programs when an opening is available; relocation may be negotiable.

Huck’s expects associates to provide fast, friendly customer service and maintain high standards for store cleanliness. Assistant Managers help oversee associates, shift operations, bookkeeping, security, merchandising, maintenance, safety, and promotion of the Huck’s Bucks Loyalty App. The job description states that its duties are not exhaustive and management may revise responsibilities as circumstances change.

Requirements

• Be willing to accept promotion and assume Store Manager responsibilities after completing training programs when an opening is available.
• Work the Store Manager’s days off and at least two evening shifts per week.
• Follow company policies, applicable laws and ordinances, safety procedures, and sanitation procedures.
• Provide prompt, courteous customer service and uphold company standards for store cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Provide customers prompt and courteous service, including greeting customers through the gasoline intercom and following Best In Class standards.
• Work assigned operating hours, help fill shifts, work the Store Manager’s days off, and work at least two evening shifts per week.
• Perform tasks assigned by the Store Manager and communicate effectively with associates and management.
• Follow applicable federal, state, and local laws and ordinances; model appropriate conduct for associates.
• Notify the Store Manager of sales, cash, or operating discrepancies.
• Ensure associates wear proper uniforms and provide courteous customer service.
• Complete shift change reports at the beginning and end of shifts according to company policy.
• Record hours worked by clocking in and out on the store computer; ring sales according to company manuals and accurately record over-rings and refunds.
• Complete daily paperwork and make store deposits as directed by the Store Manager.
• Treat associates with dignity and respect, use appropriate personnel-management techniques, and advise the Store Manager of personnel situations or policy violations that adversely affect operations.
• Ensure associate shift procedures are followed and maintain a safe shopping and working environment.
• Handle cash and merchandise securely and ensure vendor check-in procedures are followed.
• Keep coolers, drink boxes, shelves, and displays stocked and fronted; clean and maintain equipment and prepare high-margin products as directed.
• Use correct merchandise pricing as listed in the DSD or grocery book.
• Maintain the store’s appearance, including clean and polished floors, clean windows and glass, a clean and well-maintained parking lot, clean and functional restrooms, and clean food-service areas that follow sanitation procedures.
• Report maintenance problems that cannot be promptly corrected without assistance to the Store Manager.
• Ensure lifting and ladder procedures are followed, use wet-floor signs as required, and promptly report accidents to the Store Manager and corporate office.
• Promote the Huck’s Bucks Loyalty App, explain its benefits, monitor transactions for potential misuse of points or discounts, and help customers sign up and use the app for discounts and redemption.
