Assistant Manager
About The Position
The Assistant Manager oversees daily store operations, including personnel management and inventory control, and helps provide customers with a positive experience. The role focuses on the eyeglass department, supporting operational efficiency, sales and performance goals, customer service, quality standards, and associate development. The position works with the General Manager, District Manager, Corporate Office, associates, and doctors to support store performance. Sundays are off because stores are closed that day. Duties may vary by location to meet state licensing or credential requirements.
Requirements
- Optical sales experience.
- Ability to lead, coach, and build relationships with associates.
- Sound understanding of store operations and standards for success.
- Strong oral and written communication skills for effective team management.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Strong organizational skills for planning work and monitoring progress toward goals.
- Ability to analyze, create, and understand financial reports.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems of varied scope.

Responsibilities
- Monitor and achieve profit, sales, and performance goals, including reviewing the profit and loss statement.
- Oversee and optimize the eyeglass department to maintain efficiency and compliance with company policies and operational guidelines.
- Promote outstanding customer service and ensure associates provide it.
- Ensure quality standards are met; review remakes and enforce applicable policies.
- Communicate with the General Manager, District Manager, and Corporate Office, and provide store reports as required.
- Ensure promotions, advertising, and visual merchandising are in place, and that associates and doctors know about current promotions.
- Supervise and motivate Opticians and CL Sales associates, and in some stores the Receptionist, while ensuring timely completion of daily duties.
- Assist the General Manager with staffing forecasts, recruiting, selection, and retention of qualified staff.
- Motivate associates to exceed performance standards.
