Assistant Manager
About The Position
The Assistant Manager helps manage the Planet Fitness club and provides a superior level of customer service to members, prospective members, and guests. In partnership with the General Manager, the Assistant Manager supports the entire operation of the club, ensuring an exceptional “Judgement Free” member experience, teamwork, and operational excellence. The Assistant Manager is responsible for club operations in the General Manager’s absence. The role includes motivating and inspiring the team to meet productivity and customer service goals, applying company standards, and ensuring staff skills are used effectively. The Assistant Manager also assists with recruitment, hiring, and training to keep the club fully staffed, and helps maintain a welcoming environment by greeting and assisting members and promptly responding to their inquiries and needs.
Requirements
- At least one year of management experience.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Continual standing and walking during the shift.
- Continual talking with members and prospective members in person and on the phone during the shift.
- Must be able to lift 45 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- Fitness, retail, or hospitality experience is strongly preferred.
- An associate’s degree in Exercise Science, Business, Kinesiology, or a similar field, or a combination of experience and education, is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Help manage the club’s operations in partnership with the General Manager and oversee operations in the General Manager’s absence.
- Provide excellent customer and member service to members, prospective members, and guests.
- Motivate and inspire the team to achieve club productivity and customer service goals.
- Follow company standards and support the club’s financial interests during the work shift.
- Ensure staff skills are used effectively and promote positive experiences for staff and members.
- Assist with recruitment, hiring, and training to keep the club fully staffed.
- Welcome and assist members, and respond promptly to member inquiries and needs.
