About The Position

The Assistant Manager is part of Madewell’s leadership team and helps drive store profitability through genuine customer connections, brand loyalty, and community engagement. The role provides immediate feedback and coaching to the sales team to maximize performance, collaborates with other leaders on business strategies, and supports smooth store operations. The Assistant Manager owns an assigned division of responsibility, such as Visual Merchandising, Operations, HR, or Service & Selling, and may work in a variety of sales-floor roles as needed.

Requirements

• Have 1–2 years of retail management experience with a similar scope.
• Passionately support the brand, customers, and teams.
• Stay current with fashion trends and industry developments.
• Demonstrate teamwork, flexibility, and courtesy when executing tasks.
• Champion new ideas and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills while navigating uncertainty.
• Have scheduling flexibility, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Bend, reach, and stretch for product, and lift, carry, and move at least 40 pounds (18 kilos).

Responsibilities

• Support the Store Director and Associate Store Manager in driving business results and maximizing profitability.
• Own a designated division of responsibility, such as Visual Merchandising, Operations, HR, or Service & Selling.
• Manage store operations, systems, and technology while ensuring accountability.
• Assist with recruiting, training, and development efforts as needed.
• Help create a collaborative working environment for all associates.
• Keep the team on track to exceed goals and provide best-in-class customer service.
• Lead fit sessions to improve associates’ product knowledge and customer connections.
• Develop innovative ways to engage the community and build loyalty through events.
• Step into a variety of roles on the sales floor as needed.
• Provide immediate feedback and coaching to the sales team to maximize performance.
