The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager in hiring, developing, and leading store associates; delivering optimal customer experiences; overseeing store operations; and maintaining brand standards. The role helps develop and execute strategies to achieve key performance indicators and financial targets through business analysis, action planning, communication, and accountability. When the Store Manager is absent, the Assistant Manager is responsible for the primary duties of the position. The role provides supervision and direction for associates’ daily goals and activities, supports in-store and Omni-channel selling, maintains merchandising and other brand standards, and addresses customer concerns. It trains, develops, recruits, and coaches associates, promotes positive associate relations and inclusion, and communicates with management. The Assistant Manager also supports company processes and digital fulfillment strategies, manages or supports inventory, payroll and scheduling, store opening and closing procedures, and timely completion of company directives. The role helps maintain a safe store, enforce policies, protect company assets, follow inventory and cash-control procedures, use reporting tools and technology, and ensure HAZMAT training and execution. The position may require working in other stores from time to time. It involves physical activity such as extended standing and walking, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, and recurring lifting of moderately heavy items. The work environment is a retail store and may also include offices, meeting and training rooms, residences, or commercial vehicles; normal safety precautions are required.
