The Assistant Manager is responsible for everything that happens during their shift, including cost, inventory, and cash controls, food management, staffing, paperwork, customer relations, store cleanliness, marketing, and profitability. The role requires setting an example for the crew, following all policies and procedures, and ensuring employees meet the same standards. The assistant manager also works to a schedule and maintains a perfect image, strong customer service, attendance, and punctuality. This is a hands-on store role. General team-member duties include operating equipment; stocking ingredients and supplies; preparing products; receiving and processing telephone orders; taking inventory and completing paperwork; and cleaning equipment and the facility. On-the-job orientation and training are provided. Depending on assigned duties, team members may deliver products by car, deliver flyers and door hangers, and carry orders to customers. The job involves standing and walking for much of the work, handling ingredients and supplies, and working around hot equipment, sharp edges, moving parts, food odors, cornmeal dust, temperature changes, and sometimes adverse weather. Physical tasks can include lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds, pushing or pulling trays, climbing stairs or ladders, bending, crouching, reaching, and using hands continuously. Delivery duties require travel between the store, vehicle, and customer locations, potentially including multiple flights of stairs.
