About The Position

PHOENIX Retail, LLC operates the Express and Bonobos brands. Express is a multichannel apparel brand focused on modern, confident, and effortless style, with more than 400 retail and outlet stores in the United States and Puerto Rico, as well as online and mobile shopping. The Assistant Manager role is based at the Jersey Shore Premium store and supports the Store Manager in store operations, recruiting, associate management and training, sales, productivity, policy compliance, and delivering a strong in-store customer experience.

The Assistant Manager helps develop and retain talent, maintain a positive and collaborative work environment, and coach Sales Associates. The role supports business analysis and execution of action plans, oversees daily store activities and merchandise flow, and helps achieve performance goals. It also leads by example in customer engagement, resolves customer concerns, and supports visual standards and a consistently positive shopping experience. Other essential functions may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent.
• One to three years of relevant job experience is listed under required experience and qualifications.
• Proficiency using technology, including iPads and registers.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Meet defined availability criteria, including nights, weekends, and non-business hours.
• Meet physical requirements.
• Strong communication skills.
• At least two years of relevant experience is also specified under critical skills and attributes.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing, inspiring, and retaining top talent.
• Maintain a positive work environment and encourage high store morale and teamwork.
• Coach, teach, and train Sales Associates for effective job performance.
• Partner with the Store Manager to identify high-performing Sales Associates and support their development.
• May participate in Sales Associate interviews and provide feedback to the Store Manager.
• Support the Store Manager’s business analysis and help execute and communicate action plans to optimize results and operational execution.
• Assist in overseeing daily store operations and execute plans to optimize results.
• Ensure sales-floor coverage to meet customer expectations.
• Oversee merchandise flow, including shipment, replenishment, and omnichannel operations.
• Maintain adherence to company policies and support the safety of associates and customers.
• Manage execution of the store strategy to achieve performance goals.
• Lead associates in executing merchandising strategies, operations, loyalty programs, and other company initiatives.
• Support a store environment focused on delivering a great in-store experience.
• Model proactive customer engagement and exceed customer expectations.
• Greet and assist customers, sharing information about products, promotions, and loyalty programs.
• Resolve customer complaints by identifying the source of issues and taking initiative to address them.
• Lead the customer experience, remain accountable for its results, and create action plans to improve performance.
• Create a positive in-store experience through visual standards.
• Perform other essential functions as directed by the supervisor.
