About The Position

The Assistant Manager assists and consults with the Store Manager on overall store operations and administrative duties, including determining methods and approaches to meet store goals. The role requires knowledge of each product area or department, adherence to the visual manual, and a commitment to customer service and merchandise sales. In the Store Manager’s absence, the Assistant Manager assumes supervisory control of the store and is trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities. The Assistant Manager supports asset control, personnel recruiting, training and evaluation, inventory awareness, sales and expense monitoring, staff direction, and administrative work. The role also involves maintaining customer-service standards, promoting merchandise and services, following company policies, and protecting company assets and financial information through effective internal controls.

Requirements

Experience working in a retail environment.
1–3 years of customer service experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and precisely.
Team player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.

Nice To Haves

Retail experience in footwear and athletic apparel is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist the Store Manager in controlling Hibbett I City Gear assets.
Consult with the Store Manager on action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
Assume responsibility for the entire store in the Store Manager’s absence.
Assist with personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation.
Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across departments.
Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to support profitability.
Direct staff to ensure departmental responsibilities and standards are completed.
Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
Maintain quality customer service and provide extraordinary service, including assisting customers as they enter and helping multiple customers during peak periods.
Promote and sell Hibbett I City Gear services and merchandise.
Perform general administrative duties and train in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
Follow company policies, procedures, and standards in the operations, personnel, visual, and customer service manuals, as well as company memos.
Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring internal control procedures are accurate and effective, and report potential fraud risks to management or appropriate officials.
Supervise employees in the Store Manager’s absence, including interviewing and training employees, planning and assigning work, directing work, and resolving problems.
