About The Position

The Assistant Manager helps the Store Manager oversee store operations and administrative duties, including determining methods and approaches to achieve store goals. This role is knowledgeable across product areas and departments, upholds company policies and visual standards, and promotes merchandise while providing outstanding customer service. In the Store Manager’s absence, the Assistant Manager assumes supervisory control of the store and is trained in Store Manager responsibilities. The Assistant Manager helps manage store assets, personnel, inventory, sales, expenses, and departmental performance. The role also supports recruiting, training, and evaluating employees; guides staff and customers; maintains service standards; and protects company assets and financial information through effective internal controls.

Requirements

Experience working in a retail environment; footwear and athletic apparel experience is preferred.
1–3 years of customer service experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks accurately.
Team player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.

Responsibilities

Assist the Store Manager in controlling company assets.
Consult with the Store Manager on action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
Assume responsibility for the entire store when the Store Manager is absent.
Assist with recruiting, training, and evaluating personnel.
Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across departments.
Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to support profitability.
Direct staff to ensure departmental responsibilities and standards are completed.
Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
Maintain quality customer service and help customers, including during peak periods.
Promote and sell company services and merchandise.
Follow company policies, procedures, standards, and direction.
Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring effective internal controls and reporting potential fraud risks.
Perform general administrative duties and carry out Store Manager responsibilities as trained.
Supervise employees in the Store Manager’s absence, including interviewing and training employees, planning and directing work, and resolving problems.
