About The Position

The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager with store operations, customer service, and associate development. The role includes assisting with daily store activities, helping customers, maintaining merchandise and store presentation, completing opening and closing procedures, processing corporate directives, and supporting ordering, record keeping, loss prevention, and asset protection. The Assistant Manager also helps supervise, train, and develop Store Associates and maintains a clean, safe, and respectful store environment. Additional related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 pounds from floor to above shoulder height.
Ability to meet the demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other communications related to store activities.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with merchandise ordering, damaged merchandise processing, record keeping (including payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits, and receipts), and loss prevention.
Maintain the sales floor and stockroom to company standards, including keeping the sales floor well stocked and the stockroom organized.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow safety guidelines and company policies and procedures, and ensure associates do the same.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Promote a positive, safe, and respectful environment and maintain professional, friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
