About The Position

The Shift Manager, also described as a Shift Supervisor, assists management with day-to-day supervision of associates, including monitoring productivity, assigning work, providing directions, and ensuring adequate shift coverage. The role maintains knowledge of and monitors compliance with corporate standards, while leading by example to encourage strong sales and customer service. The position is non-exempt and typically reports to the Store Manager or Director of Operations, depending on local requirements. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the business or management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• At least 6 months of supervisory or lead experience.
• Ability to speak, read, and understand instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, and to converse comfortably with customers.
• Ability to bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
• Frequently immerse hands in water and water diluted with chemical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Monitor associates’ day-to-day activities and productivity, coordinate hourly associates’ breaks, and keep management informed about area activities and significant problems.
• Complete opening, daily, and closing procedures and checklists in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Coordinate with management to provide on-the-job training for new associates.
• Operate the cash register and void transactions as needed, follow cash-handling policies and procedures, and maintain cash security.
• Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand or using a hand truck.
• Rotate products according to product code dates, order products, and participate in physical inventory counts as required.
• Resolve customer complaints consistently with company policy and with customer satisfaction in mind.
• Follow food safety and sanitation practices and comply with HACCP standards.
• Monitor compliance with safety guidelines, promote safety awareness, and report safety concerns to management.
