About The Position

Citi Trends is an off-price value retailer of apparel, accessories, and home trends. The Assistant Manager supports daily store operations, team leadership, and staffing in partnership with the Store Manager. The role helps drive sales performance, maintain operational excellence, and support the hiring, onboarding, and development of store associates.

The Assistant Manager helps ensure sales goals, customer experience standards, and operational expectations are met; guides associates in providing customer service; supports inventory control and shrink prevention; and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures. The position also supports recruiting, interviews, onboarding, training, staffing, retention, coaching, and performance feedback. It helps maintain a safe, organized, customer-focused store and supports merchandising, visual, operational, and loss prevention standards. Additional duties may be assigned to support store operations and business needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–4 years of experience as an Assistant Manager or in a similar retail leadership role.
• Strong communication, organizational, and people leadership skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations, including percentages.

Nice To Haves

• 3–5 years of overall retail experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support daily store operations and help meet sales goals, customer experience standards, and operational expectations.
• Monitor sales activity and guide associates in delivering excellent customer service.
• Assist with inventory control, inventory transactions, and shrink prevention.
• Ensure compliance with Citi Trends policies, procedures, and operational standards.
• Supervise and support associates in sales, inventory, cash handling, and customer service.
• Assist the Store Manager with recruiting and hiring activities, including candidate screening, interviews, onboarding, and training support.
• Support recruiting efforts and employee retention to help maintain appropriate staffing levels.
• Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance support to associates.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and customer-focused store environment.
• Reinforce company policies, procedures, and loss prevention standards.
• Support consistent execution of merchandising, operational, and visual standards.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support store operations and business needs.
