The Assistant Manager is responsible for everything that happens during their shift and for the success of the store and its staff. The role includes setting an example, following all company policies and procedures, and expecting the same standards from the crew. Assistant Managers support and develop team members, help drive sales and store profitability, and may progress to General Manager or franchise ownership. The position combines management duties with hands-on restaurant work, including operating equipment, stocking ingredients, preparing products, processing orders, taking inventory, completing paperwork, and cleaning the facility. It requires communication with customers and coworkers, accurate order and cash handling, and the ability to work under pressure while meeting quality and service standards. Work conditions include exposure to variable indoor and outdoor temperatures and weather, food odors, cornmeal dust, cramped spaces, hot surfaces and tools, sharp edges, and moving mechanical parts. The work is primarily performed standing, with frequent walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, reaching, and hand use; occasional climbing, stooping, bending, and crouching are also required.
