Assistant Manager - Fairless Hills
About The Position
Big Blue Swim School in Fairless Hills is hiring a full-time Assistant Manager to run the pool deck and lead a team of 10 to 20 swim instructors. The Assistant Manager works alongside the General Manager, learns how the school operates, and may have a path to General Manager as new locations open. No aquatics background is required; full paid training is provided. The role includes leading shifts, supporting families, helping convert trial lessons into enrollments, and overseeing the facility and pool operations. The work takes place primarily on a warm, humid indoor pool deck and involves wet conditions, exposure to pool chemicals, occasional light lifting of pool equipment, and a lively, sometimes loud environment. This full-time schedule is built around family swim times: weekday afternoons and evenings, with the school open until 8 PM, plus weekend mornings. The school is located at 524 Lincoln Highway in Fairless Hills.
Requirements
- Supervisory, team lead, or management experience in a fast-paced, customer-facing setting.
- Enjoy working with children and their parents.
- Communicate clearly and warmly.
- Stay calm and solve problems on the spot when the workplace gets busy.
- Be available for weekday afternoons and evenings and weekend mornings; weekends are required.
- No swim, lifeguard, or pool experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Run shifts by planning class coverage, managing transitions between lessons, and ensuring classes start on time.
- Coach each swim instructor in monthly one-on-one meetings.
- Train new instructors to Big Blue teaching standards.
- Lead bi-weekly team trainings on safety, teaching technique, and customer service.
- Greet parents on deck and keep them updated on their swimmer's progress.
- Serve as the go-to person for family questions or concerns.
- Help the front desk convert trial lessons into weekly enrollments.
- Keep the pool, deck, and lobby clean and welcoming.
- Oversee water quality, pump room operations, and routine pool maintenance.
- Ensure team members follow safety procedures and keep their certifications current.
