About The Position
Miss J’s Cafe is seeking an energetic and dedicated Assistant General Manager to support the General Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations. The Assistant General Manager helps ensure the diner runs smoothly and efficiently, provides excellent customer service, maintains food quality and safety standards, and supports a positive, motivated team environment. The role includes supporting operational and financial goals, supervising front- and back-of-house employees, and helping maintain high standards of service, safety, and teamwork.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or assistant management role in the restaurant industry.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Passion for customer service and hospitality.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and basic business operations.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Assist the General Manager with daily operations, including opening and closing procedures.
- Oversee dining room and kitchen operations during shifts to support smooth service.
- Manage inventory, ordering, and deliveries to maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Lead by example and supervise front- and back-of-house staff.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling team members.
- Coach and support staff to maintain strong performance and guest satisfaction.
- Help resolve employee conflicts and promote teamwork and a positive workplace culture.
- Monitor service quality and address customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Promote a welcoming and friendly environment consistent with the diner’s brand and values.
- Serve guests when necessary to help ensure timely, excellent service.
- Assist in achieving sales and profitability targets.
- Monitor labor costs, reduce waste, and help manage operational expenses.
- Review daily sales reports and work with the General Manager to implement cost-control strategies.
