About The Position

Miss J’s Cafe is seeking an energetic and dedicated Assistant General Manager to support the General Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations. The AGM helps ensure the diner runs smoothly and efficiently, delivers excellent customer service, maintains food quality and safety standards, and fosters a positive, motivated team environment.

The role supports restaurant operations, supervises front- and back-of-house staff, helps maintain service quality, and contributes to sales, profitability, and cost-control goals. It requires flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or assistant management role in the restaurant industry.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Passion for customer service and hospitality.
• Knowledge of food safety standards and basic business operations.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist the General Manager with daily operations, including opening and closing procedures.
• Oversee dining room and kitchen operations during shifts to ensure smooth service.
• Manage inventory, ordering, and deliveries to maintain appropriate stock levels.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
• Lead by example and supervise front- and back-of-house staff.
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling team members.
• Coach and support staff to maintain high performance and guest satisfaction.
• Help resolve employee conflicts and promote teamwork and a positive workplace culture.
• Monitor service quality and address customer concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Promote a welcoming and friendly environment consistent with the diner’s brand and values.
• Serve guests when necessary to help ensure timely, excellent service.
• Assist in achieving sales and profitability targets.
• Monitor labor costs, reduce waste, and help manage operational expenses.
• Review daily sales reports and work with the General Manager to implement cost-control strategies.
