About The Position

Nudy's Cafes is seeking a seasoned Assistant General Manager. The role provides dependable Manager-on-Duty and General Manager coverage while developing the operating judgment and system knowledge needed for a General Manager assignment. The Assistant General Manager leads opening, operating, and closing shifts across front of house and back of house; carries out delegated operational tasks; coaches team members; and communicates shift, staffing, guest, product, equipment, maintenance, cash, and employee matters to the General Manager. The position serves as the accountable Manager on Duty during assigned shifts, but does not have independent labor targets or authority to set labor strategy. Success is measured by shift and guest execution, completion of operational checks and handoffs, reliability of General Manager coverage, quality of communication, and progress toward General Manager readiness.

Requirements

Prior Shift Leader or restaurant management experience.
Ability to lead front-of-house and back-of-house coordination during a shift.
Reliable transportation for floating assignment where required.
Required food-safety certification.

Responsibilities

Execute the Restaurant Manager-issued front-of-house schedule and the General Manager’s shift plan.
Lead opening, operating, and closing shifts across front of house and back of house.
Complete delegated order approvals, transfers, cash, safety, cleanliness, and operational checks.
Complete structured handoffs covering staffing, guests, product, equipment, maintenance, cash, and employee issues.
Identify facility or equipment concerns, use the maintenance request process, preserve safe conditions, and escalate through the General Manager.
Facilitate vendor access and verify completion when assigned by the General Manager.
Coach team members in real time and escalate formal matters through the proper level.
Develop competence in inventory, food cost, repair and maintenance processes, Toast, 7shifts, and General Manager decision-making.
Serve as the accountable Manager on Duty during assigned shifts.
Complete routine delegated operating and maintenance-request tasks within established procedures.
Demonstrate ownership, calm judgment, hospitality, and respectful coaching.
Bring proposed solutions with escalations and protect one consistent company standard.
