About The Position

William Paterson University is seeking an Assistant Director for the Office of Field Experiences and Partnerships. This role supports the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of clinical experiences and school-university partnerships within the College of Education. The Assistant Director will collaborate with faculty, P–12 school partners, clinical supervisors, and Professors in Residence to ensure high-quality field experiences that prepare educator candidates for success in diverse educational settings. Key responsibilities include managing clinical placement processes, collecting and analyzing program data, supporting accreditation and reporting, facilitating alternate route clinical procedures, conducting candidate data audits, coordinating recruitment and onboarding of clinical supervisors and Professors in Residence, and serving as a primary communication point for candidates and school partners. The Assistant Director will also lead the Aspiring Educators Summer Program and contribute to the development of innovative school-university partnerships.

Requirements

  • An earned bachelor’s degree in education or related field
  • Minimum of five years teaching experience, demonstrating a path of increasing responsibility and leadership
  • Demonstrated educational leadership and/or successful program management
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Interest in and ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members
  • Attention to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
  • Commitment to supporting student success
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • Self-reflective and responsive to constructive feedback.

  • An understanding and/or experience with New Jersey teacher certification programs and requirements

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the management and oversight of the Office of Field Experiences and Partnerships.
  • Engage in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Engage in clinical and professional development school and school-university partnership activities and programs.
  • Engage in clinical supervisor and professor in residence recruitment, onboarding and support.
  • Engage in communications with candidates, faculty, clinical supervisors, professors in residence to field questions and share information.
  • Facilitate the alternate route programs clinical processes and procedures.
  • Ensure candidate clinical preparedness through data audits.
  • Lead and implement the Aspiring Educators Summer Program.
