About The Position

Chartwells K-12 is hiring an Assistant Director of Dining Services to support Tri-County Area Schools in Sand Lake, Michigan. The district serves approximately 1,600–1,700 students across four schools. Reporting directly to the Director of Dining Services, the Assistant Director is part of the district leadership team and helps oversee daily dining operations and student dining experiences. The account is described as long-tenured and stable, with room for career growth. The role provides hands-on leadership for approximately 12 frontline associates, including support for hiring, training, scheduling, employee development, food safety, and daily operations. The position is suited to a relationship-driven leader who is visible in the schools, coaches teams, solves problems, and promotes service excellence and an accountable team culture. Relevant backgrounds may include food service, hospitality, restaurants, or school nutrition.

Requirements

At least 2 years of food service management experience.
Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, the military, health care, or related food service operations.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Financial experience and business acumen skills.
Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as the internet.

Associate’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Work with the Chef and management team to create nutritious, high-quality food.
Implement new culinary programs in conjunction with the marketing and culinary teams.
Maintain excellent relationships with the client.
Manage, train, and develop associates.
Support hiring, training, scheduling, employee development, food safety, and daily operational execution for approximately 12 frontline associates.
Perform other duties as assigned.
