About The Position

Crowe BGK LLP is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join their growing internal accounting team. This individual will report directly to the Director of Finance and play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and compliance of the firm’s financial operations while supporting continuous improvement across the finance function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within an accounting firm or professional services environment
  • Bilingual in both French and English, spoken and written
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and financial reporting standards
  • Proficiency with financial systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on process improvement
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Compiling financial statements and accompanying footnotes
  • Preparing income statements and balance sheet analyses
  • Producing month-end and quarter-end financial reports, including reconciliations and adjusting journal entries
  • Participating in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts
  • Reviewing and approving accounts payable entries
  • Acting as a backup and support resource for accounts payable functions
  • Preparing supplier payments as required
  • Applying cash receipts and communicating with clients as needed
  • Reconciling bank accounts and liaising with banking partners as required
  • Preparing partner-related reports
  • Reviewing and approving employee and partner expense reports as needed
  • Preparing monthly and annual reports, along with various ad hoc financial analyses
  • Preparing monthly GST/HST/QST filings and ensuring compliance with applicable tax regulations
