About The Position

The Riverdale School District is seeking an Assistant Coach for the 5th/6th Grade Girls Basketball program. This is a limited-term coaching position for the season running from November 2026 to February 2027. The coach will be responsible for upholding high ethical and professional standards, serving as a role model for student-athletes, and contributing to a successful community youth program. The role involves cooperating with other school-sponsored sports, developing off-season programs, and supporting other Riverdale School District athletics and activities.

Cooperate with other school-sponsored sports by encouraging student-athletes to compete in other programs.
Complete OSAA Coaching Certifications
NFHS/ASEP Certification
First Aid Card (CPR and AED trained)
District Fingerprinting/Criminal Check

Responsibilities

Directly responsible to the head coach and expected to carry out the same responsibilities as the head coach when put in charge of a team.
Carry out all duties and responsibilities assigned within district rules and regulations.
Follow the policy set by the administrator.
Display a competitive spirit, possess emotional self-control, set goals and standards for themselves and the team.
Reflect the school and district philosophy of athletics.
Enlist participants and create interest in the activity by whatever means are available.
Organize, instruct, and prepare athletes in the fundamentals of the game.
Coach athletes in using the fundamentals in a strategic manner.
Coach athletes to play by the rules set forth.
Develop and implement an off-season program.
Lead student-athletes in the support of other Riverdale School District athletics and activities.
