Assets Protection teams help keep guests, team members, and the Target brand secure. They protect profitable sales by mitigating shortage risks, preventing theft and fraud, and ensuring products remain available to guests. The role uses surveillance and intelligence-led tactics, Target’s video surveillance system, Assets Protection practices, and case documentation to reduce shortage and address external theft and fraud. It also involves building relationships with store leaders, public safety officials, and law enforcement. The Assets Protection Specialist supports a welcoming guest experience while helping prevent and resolve theft. The position responds to security incidents, promotes safety and security awareness throughout the building, and may participate in legal proceedings to represent Target’s interests. It is a physically active role that requires flexibility, teamwork, sound judgment, and the ability to work a variable schedule. Although full-time, the position does not guarantee 40 hours per week; hours depend on business needs and may fluctuate.
