Assets Protection Specialists help keep Target guests, team members, and the brand secure. They protect profitable sales by mitigating shortage risks, preventing theft and fraud, and helping ensure products are available to guests. The role uses surveillance, intelligence-led tactics, video systems, reporting, and Target’s Assets Protection practices to identify and resolve theft and security risks. Specialists also build relationships with store leaders, public safety officials, and law enforcement, and may represent Target in legal proceedings. The position combines asset protection with guest service and teamwork. Specialists help create an easy, inspiring, and friendly shopping experience, support store sales and profitability, respond to security incidents, document cases, and promote a culture of physical security and safety. It is a physically active role involving mobility throughout a shift, ladder use, merchandise handling, and the possibility of exposure to varying temperatures and other elements. The schedule is flexible and may include nights, weekends, holidays, and other peak shopping times. Although the role is full-time, there is no guarantee of 40 hours per week; hours may fluctuate based on business needs.
